I met Ellie and Jacob the first time for their engagement session at Craggy Gardens. They were exuberant and light-hearted, definitely not off-put by a hike or a slight mist. Now let's flashforward to their wedding day, where it called for rain the entire week leading up to the event. All Ellie had to say was, "well, if it rains, it rains. I am still getting married."

It didn't rain, thankfully. Instead, The wedding guests and I were met with the most lovely warm and breezy May beach day that Beaufort, NC, could offer us. They booked a grand manor off the sound to host their party. A large tent was put up in the backyard, and the family and wedding party stayed in the home for the week. It is hard to believe this place serves as anything else but a wedding venue. It had an old southern money flair.

Ellie and Jacob decided to have a first look to see each other before the wedding and let the jitters out. I was able to steal the couple away for some beautiful portraits near the water.

The same pastor conducted the ceremony that married Jacobs's parents, and the entire family and friend group stood around (with only a few tears). Their reception took place under I had finished up shooting. This intimate wedding stood out to me as being a glamorous backyard wedding cranked up to 10. The couple, as well as their family and friends, could not be happier.
