Josh and Kallie met in high school. He was a senior, and she was a freshman. They had an incredibly short and heartwarming teenage romance that ended when he went off to college. They went their separate ways, but fate had other plans.
They rekindled a friendship when Kallie was in college. Josh had given her a call after he and his buddies talked about all the people they wish were still on their radar. They hit it off again. However, Josh was leaving for Afghanistan. They wrote letters back and forth across the ocean like a real-life Dear John. Unlike the Nicolas Sparks novel, though, these two had a much happier ending. Their wedding was at a mountaintop Airbnb with their closest friends and family. The view was stunning.
Right before the ceremony, a trenchant rainstorm swept over the mountain. Kallie being a free-spirited optimist, went out in her wedding dress and danced in the rain with her niece.
The storm broke, and Josh and Kallie said their vows in front of sweeping mountain views. They had their reception in a conjoining airplane hanger and danced all night under the stars.
